The presence of a rough road from the first day makes this walk tough. The path is steep and covered in scree, dust, and rocks. In fact, the first day of the walk takes you across a narrow ledge on a 60-degree rock wall. And the complexities keep growing. Until you reach the final high summit ridge. The path also passes past blooming trees and lovely meadows. Kedartal (also known as Shiva's lake) is a glacier lake located at a height of 4,750 metres in India's Garhwal area of the Himalayas. It is connected to Kedar Ganga via a few stream crossings. The lake is supplied by snowfall from Mt. Thalay Sagar (6,904 m), Mt. Meru (6,672 m), Mt. Bhrigupanth (6,772 m), and other neighbouring peaks, and is the source of Mt. Kedar Ganga, which is considered Shiva's gift to Bhagirathi in Hindu mythology (a source-stream of the Ganges). Kedartal, located 17 kilometres from Gangotri, is a famous hiking location. Starting at Gangotri, the journey entails a difficult rocky ascent down the small Kedar Ganga canyon to Bhojkharak, which is 8 kilometres distant. The road winds through beautiful Himalayan birch woods, but it is rendered dangerous in parts by falling boulders, high altitude, and steep ascents. The lake blends in perfectly with the surrounding surroundings. It's like a lotus growing in the mud! Except for the muck, there are towering black-white mountains here.
