The Panchachuli Base Camp trip takes place in the Darma valley of Pithoragarh district in Dharchula, close between Nepal and Tibet. One of the largest snow-capped Himalayan peaks in the eastern Kumaon Himalaya area, the Panchachuli range is a well-known affinity in Uttarakhand. The peaks have religious importance for the inhabitants, and the hiking path serves as a watershed between the Gori Ganga and Darma Valleys. The entire journey to the glacier is a stroll along the Dhauli Ganga river. Glacier Panchachuli. The Darma valley in Pithoragarh district is nestled in the lap of the snow-capped peaks of Panchachuli. The path to the glacier is a spectacular blend of fascinating scenery, snowcapped mountains, rushing streams, Alpine meadows, and a diverse range of flora and wildlife. The Kumaon Himalayan range in the Darma Valley, near the borders of Nepal and Tibet, is located in Eastern Kumaon Himalaya.
The picturesque ride through the Pitholagarh district of Uttarakhand passes through the towns of Bhimtal, Almora, Dhaulchina, Sera- gat, Chaukhori, Thal and Ashkot. The lofty Himalayan ranges and the gorges below, native villages and the sheer beauty of the forests acompany all through the drive to Dharchula.
From Dharchula it is a 4-5 hour drive to Dar along a windy road through the small tribal settlements Tawaghat and New Sobla. From Dar it is a 4-5 hour walk to reach the campsite of Duktu village.
Trek to base camp itself is very picturesque with the bugyals of Dantu meadows stretching far and wide on one side and the forests of birch and juniper on the other, With the forest cover to reach the glacier, The Panchachuli peaks (6904 mts./22652 ft. towering in the background. Overnight stay in Camp.
Wild flowers and wild strawberries grow on either side of the narrow path with the peaks towering above and endless stretches of glaciers, the place itself provides an incredible scenery of a sprawling meadow bordered by tall oak and birch trees with the Panchachuli towering in the background. Overnight stay in at base camp.
This is our last day of trekking. We will trek down 8 km to reach Duktu village and from here drive to Dharchula. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.
After breakfast this morning, you will be driven back from Chaukori to Kathgodam, from where you can leave on your onward journey.
