Tapovan is a naturally diversified environment blanketed by beautiful green grasses that are regarded as India's best high-altitude grasslands. It is located near the famed Gangotri temple at an elevation of 4463 metres, or 14,640 feet above sea level. Tapovan, located at the foot of Shivling Peak, is a summer home to numerous sadhus who live in caves, huts, and other structures.

This has to be one of the most rewarding treks in the Garhwal Himalayas, not only because you sleep at the foot of a majestic Himalayan peak but also because you pass the gigantic Gaumukh Glacier, the source of the Ganga River. This journey is best described in three words: the holy path.
