Rosewood, nestled in a woodland glade surrounded by lush lawns, is as lovely as its name indicates. The quaint colonial outpost is located on the outskirts of Ooty, the queen of the Nilgiris, and is only 2.3 kilometres distant from Charing Cross. Nature Stays strives to leave a small footprint by minimising the use of plastic, overuse of detergents, employing excellent waste management practises, improving the quality of soil, water, and air, and purchasing everything locally. The goal is to maintain their area of the planet as clean as it was when it first came to existence!
The interiors of the four vintage rooms are bright and contemporary, striking a delightful contrast with the yesteryear façade and attic-like dormer windows. A wraparound veranda looks out into lush grounds. The rooms are evocatively named after local trees such as blue gum, pine, cedar, and silver oak. They range in size from 137 to 203 square feet and may accommodate two adults and two children under the age of 12. Rosewood, like Ooty, bridges two realms of the past and present, enriching the present with recollections of a bygone period. Guests may peel back the curtain that hides a civilization long gone but yet very much alive and palpable through innovative food, historic walks, excursions, and sightseeing tours.
