The visual splendour of this all-season walk is well known. It winds through lovely woodlands and provides spectacular views of the snow-capped summits. The walk allows visitors to see the 1000-year-old Tungnath temple, Lord Shiva's tallest sanctuary. It is one of the panch-kedars and is said to have been constructed by Arjuna himself. The spectacular panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks from Chandrashila is legendary. It is one of the few peaks that can be climbed during the winter. We also go to Deoriatal, which is famed for reflecting the Chaukhamba mountain in its waters. A lake steeped in legend, it is said that the Devas (gods) bathed there, thus the name. Some believe it was the location from which Yaksha posed questions to the heroic Pandavas of the epic Mahabharata. The lake is also thought to be the "Indra Sarovar," mentioned by wandering Sadhus in the Puranas.
