Many of our wonderful treks in the area begin in the alpine pastures of Uttarakhand's alpine heights. The Bugyals are fertile grassy uplands hidden in mountain valleys where shepherds gather their herds in the summer before the winter snows cover them.

Dayara is a lesser-known Bugyal that can be accessed from Uttarkashi by a short, steep hike, but the effort is well worth it. Dayara is a circular tract of land in the local language that reflects the Bugyal's hoop-shaped grassy turf and is bordered by black oak and maple trees, with a magnificent snowline of the Bandarpoonch and other peaks beyond the green reaches.
