The homestay at the small Gadholi village in Kaserdevi offers incredible views of the magnificent Himalayan peaks, particularly the breathtaking spectacles of the snow-capped Nanda Devi that changes colour every hour all through the day and night, the green valley, and the twinkling lights of towns around the night. A walk through deodar and pine forests is enough to reset your mind. It is 8 km from Almora, a cantonment town, and around 50 km from Ranikhet (Queen's farm), an all-weather tourist destination, and is well connected with roads from all over the country.
The area has been the haunt of spiritual seekers and foreigners in search of themselves. Danish mystic Alfred Sorensen who became Sunyata Baba lived here for three decades. Ernest Hoffman found peace and became Tibetan Buddhist Lama Anagarika.
The homestay is perfect for people looking to stay longer to enjoy the natural environment and beauty of the area. Almora is located on a ridge at the southern edge of the Kumaon Hills of the Himalayan range. Blessed with a mild temperate climate year-round, it attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world. The city though said to be developed in 1568 by King Kalyan Chand also finds a mention in the Hindu epic Mahabharata.
